Big Bear Lake General Directions
Directions to Big Bear
There are three routes to choose from when traveling to the Big Bear area. We recommend you select your route in advance and check the current conditions. Remember to always carry chains in your vehicle when traveling in the mountains during winter.
Hwy 38 through Redlands is a beautiful scenic route and is typically the least congested. The road is also wider and less windy than the other options.
Hwy 18 through Lucerne Valley gets less snowfall during storms and has the least amount of mountain driving and is also typically less congested.
Hwy 18 through Running Springs has reopened and is normally the fastest route to Big Bear, however this route is typically more congested on weekends and busy holidays
